My Review:

This product is one of my favorites from the Shea Moisture line……and yet I am still confused on how I should use it. So lets start with this- the smell. Ah-ma-zing, oh my gosh I love it. I would just buy it for the smell alone it’s so good. It reminds me of a tropical island with…..coconuts and fruity stuff. Any woo, the color of the packaging and design is so appealing to the eye that anyone natural or not would stop in their tracks to look at it. Okay, so the way I use it is as a leave-in after I wash my hair. When I am interested in buying a product I ALWAYS do my research. I check everywhere! Down to the last review on amazon, blogs, youtube, where ever. I check them all. So when I learned that it should(or is recommended) be used on the hair-not the scalp- I was confused. Isn’t it a moisturizer? The point of a moisturizer is for it to moisturize your scalp…right? Hmm…. but then I read below on a comment posted later explaining that it is recommended this way because most people don’t want their hair to be curled at the roots. They want their hair(below the scalp) to do the curling as they styled it. oooooo.

I was also interested in the different ways this product could be used. Some people used it as a daily moiturizer and styler. I didn’t because I am a product junkie who is stingy on her self and considers shea moisture to be used with rarity for special days. Lol. If you’re confused don’t worry I will have a new post sometime this week explaining my “product luxuries.” So back to business; I really do want to try it as a styler but I have 4b/c textured hair and I feel that this product would be definitely too light for me. I love it I really do and I recommend it to anyone who is in need of a daily moisturizer or leave-in. Unfortunately though, it isn’t the best. I mean its not really doing anything special to my hair. Even writing this I am at a conflict. I adore this product so much but I don’t see it as a necessity. The original shea moisture leave-in is definitely a necessity, just not this one. And I love this product so much hopefully a few months from now I will have an update on how I officially feel about this product and whether or not I really need this in my regimen at the moment(even though us product junkies really don’t NEED anything, we just loooove having them). As for now I have mixed feelings on this product. Definitely try it and see how it works for your natural hair. Every one’s hair reacts differently.

pros: Delicious smell, creamy-milky-amazing color and texture, moisturizes hair, and alluring packaging.

cons: Doesn’t do anything special really. Just a moisturizer, no extra curl for my hair texture at all.

Overall, I still love it and so do many others who’ve used this product. So I say you try it. You’ll never know how it will work for you until you do.

Toodles for now 🙂

P.S.– I went to Shea Moisture’s facebook and asked them how exactly should I use their Curl Milk. Here’s what they said.

Me: “can someone tell me the best way to use the coconut and hibiscus curl and style milk. I love the smell and everything about it but…… can it be used as a leave in or what? Is it better when i use it along with my smoothie?”

Shea Moisture: ” Hello Natural Barbie, Jennifer is correct — please apply to damp hair and work through hair thoroughly then style as desired. You may use this as a styling cream, hair dressing and leave-in conditioner. You may want to follow with our Hold & Shine Moisture Mist for light hold and shine.”

Disclaimer: I was not asked or paid to do this review. This item was purchased with my own money and is my honest opinion.
